The Coronavirus outbreak is a truly global crisis. We are in touch with our partners most days to provide ongoing advice and resources as the current situation develops.
Our top priorities during the Coronavirus outbreak are to ensure the wellbeing of our staff and partners so that we can continue delivering our programmes around the world with as little disruption as possible. Following government guidelines we have closed our office and the team is now working remotely. We are doing everything we can to adapt to the present circumstances and remain dedicated to continuing our transformative work with our partners around the world.
We are also working closely with our 21 women-led partner around the world to make sure that they can continue their work with women and girls without too much interruption in innovative and accessible ways. Our focus with our partners is helping them to keep the women and girls they work with safe during the outbreak. We have been helping them with briefing and preparing their staff to deal with the outbreak, with communicating with the women and girls in their programmes and creating continuity plans for the delivery of services during their closure.
Our partner in Kazakhstan has moved its classes online: “We have started delivering on line for a week and despite the newness of it all it is working well and there is a good level of engagement.”
Our long-term relationships with our partners mean that we have great confidence in each other and are able to continue this dialogue at this challenging time which puts all of our women leaders and the women and girls they empower in danger.
Your support during the Coronavirus outbreak is crucial for us to continue our work.
You can continue to support our work with women and girls around the world by making a donation. Like many other charities and nonprofits, we are feeling the pressure of the outbreak. The economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic means that some of our donors won’t be able to support us in the same way as they have.
Your support during this time is crucial to help us continue our work when our partners need us the most. Some of our partners, such as ISSI nursing school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are at the forefront of the Coronavirus fight in their community. The nurses YOU have generously helped to train through scholarships are key players in addressing this crisis and stopping the spread of the virus in Congo.
“Our school, our nurses and Monkole, our teaching hospital are at the forefront of the coronavirus fight in Congo. I will keep you informed as events unfold, but thank you WONDER for being so quick, helpful and generous.”
Dr. Ese Diejomaoh (ISSI)
If you are looking for something good to do during this time, we’re looking for a wide range of volunteers, helping us inspire others with video editing, design and more. Please, take a look at our current opportunities on our careers page.
