Girls getting a hospitality education at Los Sauces

Los Sauces

Los Sauces hospitality school aims to prevent women and girls from entering dangerous and unstable informal employment

Los Sauces’ mission is to turn Honduran women into agents of change and leadership who can actively contribute to improving their communities. Los Sauces is a hospitality school that aims to prevent women and girls from entering dangerous and unstable informal employment by offering full scholarships for 3-year programmes, enabling women from all over the country to gain an education.

The scholarships funded by WONDER include accommodation, food and uniforms, making education more accessible to rural and marginalised women. After completing their studies, some graduates continue their studies in hospitality and other disciplines, while a portion of them work as middle managers in hotels, embassies, and hospitals. Some also return to their communities to spread the knowledge and skills they have gained and contribute to social change.

  • Education focus: Vocational training, mentoring
  • Year we started working with Los Sauces: 2016
  • Women and girls directly impacted: 1,016
