Institut Supérieur en Sciences Infirmières (ISSI)

ISSI provides vocational training in the healthcare sector, equipping students to become nurses and midwives.

ISSI is the leading institution for training nurses in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ISSI’s programme focuses on vocational training in the healthcare sector. It equips students with much-needed skills for responding to the national health crisis. Due to the poor infrastructure and health risks, investment into the national healthcare sector is vital. ISSI students receive specialised healthcare training designed to enhance national healthcare services. Our program incorporates advanced teaching methodologies and provides individualised support through a dedicated mentoring program.

ISSI also offers a Master’s programme in health care administration (MAPS); the first programme of its kind. Its aim is to train Congolese nurses and midwives to raise health standards in the country. Through the programme, they are trained to take leadership roles in hospitals. It also gives them the tools to train the next generation of midwives and nurses.

  • Project focus: vocational training, mentoring
  • Year we started working with ISSI: 2015
  • Women and girls directly impacted: 577
