With sadness we share that our advisor, Lucy Gikonyo, died in Mombasa on 15 December after a short illness.

A WONDER advisor for several years, Lucy trained hundreds of Kenyan women so that they could gain better jobs. Later in her career, she gained a doctorate and was the Academic Director at Strathmore University’s School of Hospitality Studies at the time of her death.

Lucy dedicated her life to the training, mentoring and empowerment of young Kenyan women. Her legacy lives on in WONDER’s Kenyan projects.

Her funeral will take place in Nairobi on Friday.
