Maxine's Marathon for WONDER

WONDER Foundation

My name is Maxine, and I’m a 27-year-old Canadian living in London. I am so excited to be running the London Marathon in support of Wonder Foundation.   This will be my first ever marathon, though I take inspiration from my mom and step-dad, who have run a combined x marathons across North America and Europe.   I ran two half marathons in Canada in 2015 and in 2017 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada in memory of my dad. Since moving to London, I’ve run the Royal Parks and the London Landmarks half marathons. I can’t wait to start fundraising for my charity spot in the London Marathon!   Women’s education is a cause that is very close to my heart. As a freelance journalist and development consultant, I have worked with incredible women from many different backgrounds and I have witnessed firsthand how girls’ and women’s education can transform societies for the better. I love that Wonder is an entirely woman-led charity that works directly with women, girls and their local communities to design and deliver programs that help them access quality education and exit poverty for good.   I will be training as hard as I can over the next few months and I’m keen to explore new running routes throughout London and beyond. Please feel free to send me training tips, nutrition guides, running routes or just general well wishes on Twitter @maxinemoes.   My goal is to raise £1000 for Wonder. You can help me by donating whatever you can or by spreading the word within your networks.   Thank you so much and see you at the finish line!
