Mick’s love affair with food first began as a child in Congo, watching in fascination as his mother brought together fresh ingredients in her cooking pot. Mick’s world was turned upside down as a child as he watched his country torn apart by civil war and at the age of 14 he was sent to France as a refugee.
In spite of these difficulties Mick’s love of food, hard work and persistence earned him a place at one of France’s most prestigious culinary schools. At the age of just 22 he opened his first restaurant in Toulouse and today he continues to bring together Congolese and European flavours.
Mick is involved in a number of great causes to give back to the country where his obsession with food first began. The Wonder Foundation is delighted to be working and benefitting from this exclusive pop-up dining event on Saturday 3rd of March. The proceeds of the event will go to supporting young women with the skills and education to enter into the catering and hospitality sector in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
