Help families in Mexico get back on their feet in the aftermath of the earthquake.
Wonder Foundation is raising money for our partners in Mexico, Colegio Montefalco in Jonacatepec, Morelos, a school set up to give education to women and girls with few opportunities. It was not far from the epicentre of the earthquake that struck on Tuesday 19th September. We have spoken to representatives of the school today and they are currently surveying the damage both their and to their community. The school will need repairs, and with many of homes destroyed or unsafe, we want to help students and their families with their immediate needs. The church next to the school is also partially destroyed.
Can you help students and their families, such as Maria Sixta's family (below) to get back on their feet?
We've previously worked with Colegio Montefalco on sharing best practice around mentoring, and also assisting with their institutional development, so we know all about the good work they do.
Giving to a locally-led charity means your money goes further. The school already has local connections and understand the local area because they are already leaders in the affected areas and speak the local language. As a focal point for the community they are also able to mobilise many local volunteers, which saves times and money in logistics and distribution. We believe that sustainable poverty relief is about empowering local communities to support themselves.
Let's give local people in Mexico the chance to prove this and lift up their families. Donate now:
We will keep you posted on updates and information as we get it.
